★ Before you leave home check your Tupperware is shut tight - there’s nothing worse than discovering you’ve got a leak in the bottom of your bag!
★ Plastic cups and paper plates are the best options if you want to avoid breakages.
★ Bear in mind that some items will need to be kept in a cool box - mainly meat, sh and any dairy products. Also, if you’re planning on packing chocolate it’s best to keep that cool too!
★ To avoid soggy salads and sandwiches keep extras such as dressings and fillings in separate containers.
★ Other essentials to pack... suncream, hand wipes / napkins and of course a corkscrew!
★ Avoid ice cream, sticky puddings, and cakes – not only are they hard to transport but wasps and other insects love them.
★ Perfect picnic food... Fresh fruit, vegetables or crisps with dip, cheese and crackers (pick a brie or camembert, which will soften in the heat, rather than a hard cheese which will go oily when left in the sun.) A selection of sandwiches (try to avoid using with mayonnaise, which can go bad in the heat) hard- boiled eggs and quiche are always great picnic food.
