A bag of fish and chips on Brighton Beach has been a pleasure for generations, but why else do we flock there every summer?
After a scorching weekend spent in our favourite British seaside town shooting the new Caroline Gardner bag collection we want to share our top tips and hidden gems for your next adventure down there.
BREAKFAST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY
Jump off the train and head straight to Billie’s Café for arguably the best breakfast ever! This family run café and Brighton institution is the perfect start to your weekend here.
FOODIE PICK: Go for the Farmhouse hash, it’s huge but will ready you for the day ahead.
SHOPPING THE LANES
After you are fully fuelled for your day ahead it is obligatory that you head down The Lanes for a bit of creative shopping. The twisting alleyways offer the best in independent and boutique shops and you could easily spend a whole day here, which we often do when we’re looking for creative inspiration. One store you HAVE to visit is ‘Present in the Laine’, a beautiful gift and accessories boutique offering gorgeous products from homewares to handbags and everything in between…including a selection of Caroline Gardner gift items.
Check out their website here to find out more about them and see the fabulous products they stock. We love this cactus nylon light and art deco chandelier earrings.
A visit to this shopaholic’s paradise is not complete without a rummage through ‘Snoopers Attic’, the boutique market, art space and workshop; a treasure trove with everything from vintage clothing to hand-crafted jewellery.
COFFEE PIT STOP
With Brightonians being the biggest coffee drinkers in the UK it isn’t hard to see why you can’t walk far without falling over the feet of creative freelancers mulling over their next big project outside numerous independent coffee houses.
INDULDGE THE CHILD WITHIN
The arcades were always a highlight when visiting any beach town as a child, loading up on 2p pieces and thinking you were rich when all of 50p cascaded down into your pot. Head along Brighton Pier, grab some candyfloss and prepare to win big!
QUENCH YOUR THIRST
After all that shopping you will want to relax, take in the sea view and enjoy a nice cold drink. Visit the most authentic pub on Brighton Beach front ‘Fortune of War’, relax on the terrace as the evening draws in with a cocktail, listening to one of the live bands that frequents the venue.
FISH AND CHIPS ON THE BEACH
A visit to Brighton is never complete without grabbing fish and chips and heading down to the promenade to see out the remainder of the day with amazing views of the sun setting.
